A CD will hold around 600 megabytes and a DVD over 4 gigabytes more than all the CD’s put together. But CD’s are a bit easier to burn and read. The CD’s are best for photos and text files while the DVD is best for larger files like home movies and long presentations or slide shows. Software Use whatever you wish. There are thousands of freeware and shareware programs out there but if you want something better, more professional, Windows users tend to use Nero - and Mac users often buy Roxio Toast . These are fully featured programs that make burning discs fast, easy and reliable. If you are a novice at burning your own discs, you can get your local camera store to do it for you for a few dollars until you work out how to do it yourself. Top quality archival discs like ours are more expensive. It is best to burn initial test copies on to cheap discs first, check that they are exactly as you want them and then copy the reorganised files to your mylife DIGIBOOK discs for permanent storage. You may have lots of old photos or slides lying around. If you can’t scan them yourself, most camera stores can do it for you and supply them on disc. In many cases, their software will compensate for fading and dust and improve the images. |
Ask your wedding photographer to put images on the CD and the video on the DVD or make them up yourself so that you can watch over and over. Remember, unlike a tape, you can’t wear them out!
